An Etheronuclear Device also known as a Mystinuclear Device is a powerful Nuclear Weapon classified as Occult Technology. The device uses Mystic Energy i.e. Etherons as a power source to cause a nuclear fusion or fission reaction within a payload or creates a Nuclear Reaction and directing the energy into a beam such as a Fusion Cannon. They were derived from the Hindu Gods' Astras and used by the Atlanteans and Lemurians during the Atlante-Lemurian War. They are still commonly used by Atlantean Warships. Notable scientists that have studied or helped develop these weapons include the likes of Natalya Tesla, and Esmé LaCroix.

Pure Fission Weapons[]

Pure Fission Weapons are weapons that exclusively employ fissile materials. These weapons utilize fission reactions to produce nuclear power. These weapons are extremely radioactive and leave large amounts of heavy radioactive materials behind that have half-lives of centuries to millennia long.

Boosted Fission Weapons[]

Boosted Fission Weapons are a step up from Pure Fission Weapons. Boosted Fission Weapons employ the use of small amounts of Fusion Fuel to maximize the fission reaction rate within the Fissile Atomic Core by producing more neutrons. Ironically these result in less heavy radioactive materials being left behind after the explosion due to the maximized fission rate.

Boosted Fusion Weapons[]

Boosted Fusion Weapons are extremely similar to boosted fission weapons by design but are fundamentally different in the employment of the materials used. Boosted Fusion Weapons consist of a Fissile Core that acts as a spark plug surrounded by a large amount of Fusion Fuel encased in a tamper consisting of a neutron reflector. The compression and heat end up heating the thermonuclear fuel to a temperature and pressure just below the point of nuclear fusion. The fissile core goes supercritical and ignites the fusion fuel.

Pure Fusion Weapons[]

Pure Fusion Weapons are Nuclear Weapons that exclusively employ fusion reactions and utilize no fissile materials what so ever. As a result these leave zero fallout and zero residual radioactivity. These "clean" nuclear weapons have no minimum yield and so they can easily be miniaturized in both size and power.

Hybrid Weapons[]

Hybrid Weapons employ more than one type of nuclear reaction. The Teller-Ulam Configuration is a Hybrid Weapon consisting of a Pure Fission or Boosted Fission Primary that compresses and ignites a Boosted Fusion or Pure Fusion Secondary.

Etheronuclear Warhead[]

Etheronuclear Warheads consist of a Power Source, Amplification Crystal, Etheron Flux Computer Circuitry, Etheron Converters, and a Nuclear Payload. One of the significant advances in Atlantean Warheads is that unlike those made on earth there are slight design differences. Because their atomic bombs utilize a combination of different methods, their boosted fission weapons do not use tritium or deuterium gas. Instead that part is replaced by Lithium Deuteride.

Nuclear Payload[]

The payload varies depending on the device, but one thing is certain The Seven Ten Rule is still very much valid. While Astronuclear Variants are Three to Ten Times as powerful as a Thermonuclear Device. Certain Mythical Substances are often used in the payload in some form, most often as a Tamper. The most widely used Nuclear Metal is the isotope known as Neptunium-236. Developing Etheronuclear Weapons is a slightly different process than conventional nuclear research. This is mainly due to the fact Occult Technology used in such devices already tends to max out the efficiency of such reactions often leading to these weapons being composed of less nuclear stages than conventional nuclear weapons of similar output. This is in direct contrast to conventional nuclear weapons in which most use multiple stage designs in order to max out certain reactions to the highest yield possible. At the same time this means every form of these nuclear devices can have variable yields by altering how much converted mystic energy is used to trigger the necessary reactions through a combination of varying methods to trigger Fusion Reactions. Philosopher Stones are used as the triggering mechanism.

Atomic Payload[]

Atomic Payloads almost always consist of Neptunium-236 as it has the smallest critical mass of any Actinide Nuclear Material, however, examples that use Ultranides also exist but in smaller quantities. Although these have fallen widely out of use in favor of Thermonuclear and Astronuclear payloads.

Thermonuclear Payload[]

Thermonuclear payloads are most often Pure Fusion designs, using only Lithium Deuteride as a fusion fuel. Gamma Rays and X Rays in combination with powerful kinetic shockwaves are used to ignite the bomb. These often range between several tons to hundreds of megatons of tnt in explosive power.

Astronuclear Payload[]

Astronuclear payloads use condensed interstellar gases to produce Supernova-like reactions. This increases potential yields to various ranges within the gigatons of tnt.

Cryonuclear Payload[]

Cryonuclear payloads are Cold Fusion bombs. They have higher yields than thermonuclear payloads but lower than astronuclear payloads.

Etheronuclear Fallout[]

Etheronuclear Fallout is the most dangerous side-effect of these weapons. Not only does it cause the things Non-Etheronuclear Fallout does but also has a Corrupting Quality to it. It can damage the Meridian System and if severe enough untreated can rob victims of their ability to use Mystic Arts. Like that of Normal Nuclear Fallout, Etheronuclear Fallout follows The Seven Ten Rule.

Anti-Mystic Radiation[]

Anti-Mystic Radiation is the Key Factor in Etheronuclear Fallout. It is produced several ways but is in most cases caused by Nuclear Radiation mixing with Etheron Particles, corrupting them. It is composed mainly of Nuclear Particles and Etheron Particles. When Mystic Energy is converted into a physical power source, spiritual energies still remain trapped inside the physical particles and is in turn transferred with the energy used in detonation. This results in Radioactive isotopes amplified with spiritual energies and vice versa making mystic energies emitted by such isotopes extremely poisonous to living creatures' meridian systems and auras.

Gold Bomb[]

The only Salted Bomb in the Atlantean Nuclear Arsenal is the Gold Bomb. Far deadlier than a cobalt bomb it utilizes the radioisotope Gold-198, what makes it so deadly is that Gold-198 decays into Mercury-198, therefore poisoning an entire region with mercury which can also result in forming extremely toxic and poisonous compounds like methylmercury and sterilize the soil surrounding the target or poison the food and water supply to surrounding regions and mercury vapors can poison the air or even lead to infertility of local wildlife.
